With Strung Out down in Orange County out the studio working on their new release, we've taken advantage of
the time to begin the first
Panzers for Ambience release.  The drums sounds are thick -the toms are thunderous.
The kit: a Pacific four piece with an 8 ply maple Pearl snare.  We held a 3 day mic shootout; basically trying all
mic-preamp-drum combinations until Cody practically needed medication!  We decided on a pair of 451's as
overheads through the MLA-8, The kick is pushed through an Audix D6 into the Avalon with some compression.
The snare has two mics: an SM57 and a transformerless AKG 414, running through a Focusrite and Eureka
respectively with some compression as well.  Between the two, the Eureka is working a bit harder at taming the
dynamics.   Tom 1 is mic'ed with a Neumann TLM103 through a silver series dbx preamp.  Overkill?  Maybe, but
the shootout told no lies.  Also going through another two channels of silver series are the two floor tom mic's,
an AKG C1000 and a Seinheisser e604.  We found that the ride wasn't cutting enough during certain passages
where those accents really need to be present, so we added another C1000 above the bell of the ride.  Hello
ride.  We'll post some drums tracks and other in-progress tracks next month so stay tuned.

Measure has also finished up their 3 song EP.
Here's their Myspace site - if you are in the local Ventura/LA
Counties, they should be playing quite a bit of shows in the area in support of their release.  VC Bands - hit them
up and get some shows cookin!

The
Radio Threat project has been put on hold.  Favio is currently out of town, but recording should resume by
month end.  Interesting news here, the band has decided to scratch the orginal tracks and are having Metal Bob
(Pulley, Class of Zero, come on... he's Metal Bob!)  will be playing drums on this EP, so look out!

See you in May! And remember, it's Moebius, not Mobius. :)
